Crystal Kayiza is a Ugandan-American artist and filmmaker raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A member of the New Negress Film Society, she is a recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship, Creative Capital Award, Jerome Hill Artist Fellowship, Film Independent Amplifier Fellowship, and the Sundance Ignite Fellowship. Her most recent film,  Rest Stop, won the 2023 Jury Prize for Best US Short Film at the Sundance Film Festival. Her previous shorts have screened at BlackStar Film Festival, MoMA and the Toronto International Film Festival and appeared on The New Yorker, NOWNESS and PBS. Named one of Filmmaker Magazine’s “25 New Faces of Independent Film,” Crystal is currently in post-production on her first feature film.
